With all due respect, I think your resentment at "that letter" is due to your
misunderstanding about the intentions of its author. I often offer to pay
postage and other costs to a fellow seeker of info with a common interest.
Sometimes it is accepted, sometimes it is not; it's just no big deal to me,
really.

Just my experience; I bet others out there share it.
