Hi All-

I'm also searching for a family of Blacks from Scotland. I have traced my
line back to Mark Black, born about 1830 in Barony, Lanarkshire.
Mark served in the Army Medical Corps. He was stationed in the Channel
Islands and Woolwich when his children were born. My line is through his
youngest son, John, who emigrated to the US in 1907.

I have been unable to trace his other children past the 1891 Rutherglen,
Lanarkshire census. I suspect that all but John remained in Scotland. Here
is a brief outline of what I know:

1. MARK BLACK was born Abt. 1831 in Parish of Barony?, Glasgow,
Lanarkshire, Scotland. He married JANE SMITH, born 1829, Rutherglen,
Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Children of MARK BLACK and JANE SMITH are:
i. JAMES BLACK, b. April 23, 1862, St. Peters Port, Guernsey, Channel
Islands.
ii. MARK BLACK, b. November 04, 1863, Jersey, Channel Islands.
iii. MARGARET BLACK, b. March 23, 1865, St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands.
iv. VILLIALT STEWART BLACK, b. July 19, 1866.
v. JOHN SUTER BLACK, SR., b. February 24, 1870, Woolwich, England.

Best regards,
Laura
