I am searching for info on Charles Norman BLACK, b. 4 June 1873 in Oakland,
Coles Co., IL.. He married Effie Dora JONES, also from Oakland, and died May
1943 in Oakland.
Charles and Effie had 3 daughters: Lenore, Florene Luella, and Irma; and one
son:Ivan Ray. They were members of the Nazarene Church.
Charles was an extremely intelligent man. While in 2nd grade, he spelled
down the High School. He taught himself to read Hebrew and Greek so he could
read the Bible in the original languages. He always wanted to be a minister,
but Effie did not want to be a minister's wife, so Charles spent a frustrated
life working for the railroad.
Charles Father was William Jefferson BLACK.
If anyone knows anything further about Charles or Effie or William, I would
like them to contact me.
