I am searching for information on the family of Mary Ann BLACK, particularly
her maiden name which is believed to be CAIN. I would also like to learn the
name of her husband which family members believe to be Robert or James BLACK.
Any information will be most appreciated.

Mary Ann BLACK was born in SC, probably Edgefield District. She and her
husband removed to Alabama when he got sick and died in Butler County. The
family remained there to be near his gravesite. He was the first person to be
buried in the Ebeneezer West Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, now known
just as Ebeneezer West.

Mary Ann BLACK is listed as a widower on the tax rolls and census of 1840,
Butler County. Children include: Robert, Hugh, Lytle, Elkanah L.
