Black surname in Scotland is common to three clans, Gregor,MacLean,
Lamont. All three had people change their names to Black and Lamont
has a sept of Blacks whose surname goes back to a reference of skin
color and are from Glendaurel in Cowal. Any of the surname Black in
Ireland are originally from Scotland. All this is relative only to
the U K as other countries have many Blacks originating there.
