Here are my family lines - I would like to find the parents of James Black
- Is any one working on this family?

James Black Family

JAMES BLACK was born probably in Virginia. Records state that he came from
there but where he was born is not known nor is the date of his birth. He
died in 1828 in South Carolina and he was married to Mollie_____. No
information is known about MOLLIE but as she was not listed in his will,
she probably was deceased before 1828.

Sept. 1828, Sale at home of DANIEL S. BLACK. Appraisers: Frederick
Schumpert, John Lagorne, Bailey Conwill. Buyers included PETER, MARK AND
DANIEL BLACK. Annual Returns pages 76-194....1830..

1. PETER BLACK b. 1791 in S. C. died 18 Aug. 1865 in Benton Co. Alabama.
Married ELIZABETH ABNEY before 1819 in S. C. She was the daughter of Paul
Abney and Eleanor Hamilton of Edgefield District S. C.

2. MARK BLACK born in S. C. - No other information known.

3. DANIEL SCOTT BLACK b. in 1800 in Newberry Co. S.C. died in 1844.
Married (1) Sarah Coleman, (2) Rebecca Arnold and (3) Rachel O'Neal

"Equity 29-1...Daniel Black owed the estate of James Black and was unable
to pay. He apparently left the states and the Administration "locked
Daniel's Negroes" up so Daniel couldn't take them outside of South
Carolina. Daniel Black did return to Newberry June 1833. He married the
daughter of Isaac Arnold. Testimony revealed that "Peter Black kept Daniel
Black's two infant children Dolly and Anderson Black and that Dolly was
absent with her aunt Polly Wells."
Major Daniel Scott Black, born 1800 in Newberry County, S.C.19;
died Feb 1884 in Bean Cemetery.. He was the son of 88. James Black and 89.
Mollie Unknown. He married 45. Sarah Coleman about 1823 in South Carolina.
Sarah Coleman, born Unknown in South Carolina; died Unknown in
buried in S.C.. She was the daughter of 90. Edward Coleman.

a. Henry Anderson Black, born Oct 3, 1824 in South Carolina; died
Jul 25, 1915 in Carolina Cemetery; married Elizabeth J. Carter Mar 14, 1850
in Itawamba County, Ms.
b. Dolly A. Black, born Unknown; died Unknown; married William R.
Bowen Jul 31, 1851.

Child of Major Black and Rebecca Arnold is:
a. Winfield Scott Black, born Unknown in South Carolina; died
Unknown in Wiygul Cemetery (CSA marker); married (1) Rhoda G. Conwill Dec
15, 1858; married (2) Martha H. Green Aft 1900.

a. Martin Van Buren Black, born Jan 7, 1842 in South Carolina; died
Jan 4, 1901 in Bean Cemetery; married Nancy Bean Jan 14, 1869.
b. John Caldwell Calhoun Black, born 1844; died Jul 21, 1892;
married (1) Mary Agnes Rosier Jun 2, 1873; married (2) Parmelia Adeline
Baldridge Nov 25, 1878.
c. Lark O'Neall Black, born Apr 17, 1849; died Apr 15, 1935 in Bean
Cemetery; married Parmelia Baldridge Mar 11, 1893.
d. Mark Anthony Black, born Jul 19, 1849; died Aug 20, 1906
married Nannie Demarius O'Neal Dec 12, 1872.
e. Elizabeth Black, born Aug 27, 1849; died Apr 3, 1929 married (1)
John Connor Jun 8, 1864; married (2) Joseph O'Neal Apr 11, 1877.
f. Franklin Black, born about 1855.
g. George W. Black, born Apr 5, 1858; married Mary Hayes May 14, 1891.

4. MARY BLACK born in S. C. married Robert Marchant before 1828.

5. SALLY BLACK born in S. C. married Uriah Johnson before 1828. She died
by 1840 leaving children Elizabeth and John Johnson.
