My earliest ancestor is Jonathan Black b.ca. 1768 PA; wife Mary (no maiden)
b.ca. 1775. He died 08 April 1836 in Hempstead County, Arkansas. His known
children include James H., Jonathan and Penelope Rebecka Black. Some
researchers believe he is related to the James Black who made the Bowie knife,
while others think they are two different families.
