With Erin's admonition to post here goes my best shot. My maternal =
grandmother, Elizabeth Ruth "Bessie" BLACK was born 9/28/1899 in =
Chicago, IL. I know of two older sisters, Esther and Mabel. Cook =
County Vital Statistics has no record of the birth. The story goes that =
the family broke up due to the death of the parents and the children =
were farmed out. Elizabeth ended up with the Vanderhoef's in Whiting =
IN. As a child I was always told that they were my Great Grandparents. =
During WWII my parents divorced and for a short while I was taken care =
of by the family of Perry BLACK in E Chicago, IN. There was never a =
hint that Perry and Elizabeth were related and Perry's daughter, who I =
recently contacted after 50+ years, does not think there was a =
relationship but isn't sure. She remembers visiting relatives on a farm =
in Wisconsin. Of course all the information I am posting, other then =
birth info, including my Grandmother's maiden name is information I =
found out after all the principals are long gone. I do vaguely remember =
my grandmother mentioning that her family was from Canada. Does anyone =
have any connections or ideas?

Thanks, Rip
