Robert died.

Eileen, this is some of the info that I have on the Robert Black who died
in Woodford Co., KY on 18 Jul 1837.

1. John Black, son of John Black & Mary, born circa 1722 in Augusta County,
VA, died before 20 Mar 1797 in Bourbon County, KY. He married Martha
Patrick, daughter of Robert Patrick & Rachel, before 10 Aug 1761 in Augusta
County, VA. They lived at Beverley Manor, Augusta Co., VA until 1785.

Augusta Co., VA Will Book 3, page 90: Will of Robert Patrick, written 10
August, 1761, proved 17 Nov 1761. Will names sons Charles and John Patrick
and John's son Robert Patrick; Daughter Martha Black and her 2 sons, Robert
and John; Daughter Isabell McCulloch and her daughter Rachel; Wife, Rachel.

Bourbon Co., KY Will Book A, page 333: John Black's will, dated May 22,
1795. Heirs: Martha Black, widow; Robert Black, eldest son; William Black,
son; Samuel Black, son; John Black, grandson--son of Robert Black. 200
acres of land in Clear Creek, Woodford Co., KY.

Augusta Co., VA Deed Book 29, page 245: "Martha Black, widow of John Black,
deceased, of the county of Bourbon, State of Kentucky; Robert Black of
Woodford County, Kentucky; Samuel Black and William Black of Bourbon
County, Kentucky, heirs of the said John Black, deceased, appoint John
Patrick of Augusta County, Virginia as their lawful attorney to sell two
tracts of land in Augusta now in the possession of occupation on Nicholas
Farhart. One tract of 200 acres bought of John Madison Nov. 19, 1771 and
one tract of 54 acres granted to John Black by letters Patent March 16,
1771Â…recorded March
20, 1797."

Bourbon Co., KY Will Book C, page 98: Martha Black's will dated August 26,
1797. Heirs: William Black, son; Martha Black, granddaughter--daughter of
son, Robert; Martha Patrick Black, granddaughter--daughter of son, Samuel.

The quoted sources indicate that John's wife was Martha PATRICK, which is
supported by the fact that Samuel and Rosannah Black's daughter was named
Martha Patrick Black. Also, that John and Martha had four sons--Robert,
John, Samuel and William. John is mentioned in Robert Patrick's will, but
not in John Black's will, which indicates that he was born before August
10, 1761 and MAY have died before May 22, 1795.

John & Martha Patrick Black had the following children: Robert, John,
Samuel & William. (Samuel is my direct ancestor.)

2. Robert Black, born 12 Oct 1750 in Augusta County, VA, died 18 Jul 1837,
buried in Woodford Co., KY. Robert was a Revolutionar War soldier and lived
in Montgomery Co., VA at the time of the war. Later he owned 200 acres on
Clear Creek in Woodford Co., KY. (Information from D.A.R. Patriot Index.)

He married Ann Spears. Children: Jane, John, James, Martha, Rebecca,
Margaret, Elizabeth, Ann & Sarah.
