I am new to the list so I thought I would post my information. =20

This branch of my family is one of the toughest. I am search for the =
ancestors of Catherine Black who was born around 1809. She married =
Henry Porter, who was born in Neversink, Sullivan County, NY. Their =
daughter, Elizabeth Porter, is my ggg-grandmother. =20

I have never found any record of Catherine Black, except for the 1850 =
Census, showing her marriage to Henry and their children. I have a =
picture of Elizabeth Porter and she looks like she is a full-blooded =
Indian. My grandmother always told me that one of her g-grandmothers =
was an Indian and I am guessing that it may have been Catherine Black =
because she seems to have appeared out of no where.

Does any one have any information on Blacks in the Sullivan County area =
around this time period? Any connections to Native Americans?

Thanks. Jodie
