This is one more reference to BLACKS in the SANGAMON Co. Centennial
History Book, publ 1876. (See other msg for details of book) This is not
my family, I was just given this book, don't know anything else about
the people, but wanted to do my part to help someone out there)

p 123, 124
THOMAS BLACK was b Oct 25 1768 and went from South Carolina to Christian
Co KY where he was m to Edith A Pyle. They moved to southern IL just
before the "Shakes" (meaning the earthquake of 1811 that sunk Madrid
MO.)
They fled in terror back to KY, but upon finding that the earth did not
all sink, they returned to southern IL and moved to what became Sangamon
Co, arriving Apr 9 1819,in what is now Auburn twp. Of their children--
SARAH, b Jul 3 1796 KY m Ky to Mr. Edwards, they had one child, Susan,
who m Wm Woods. Mr. Edwards died & his widow m Bailey Taylor. They had
3 chn Amanda who m Peter Wheeler, Emma who m Miller Bagby, Thomas B m
1866--they had 3 chn., one of whom d. Mr Taylor d and the family moved
to McDonough Co. IL and from there to Iowa where Sarah died.

DAVID, b Sep 17 1798 KY m Jan 2 1823 in Sangamon Co to Sarah Moffitt.
They had 6 Chn.: WILLIAM m Millie Moore & lives near Belleville, St.
Clair Co. IL. GEORGE m Viney Broom & resides near Blue Mound, Macon Co.
EDITH A m Wm Simmons. He d and Edith Simmons m Mr. Brown. They reside
TX.
ANN, LEANDER and FRANCIS are the other children of this family. David
Black d Oct 7 1856 in Chatham Twp, and his widow resides with her
youngest son in Macon Co. near Blue Mound.

ELIZABETH b Mar 6 1803,KY was m in Sangamon Co to John Harris. They had
one child, James who drowned in a millpond while fishing , aged 14 yrs.
Mr.& Mrs. Harris both d in Macoupin Co.

NANCY b Aug 4 1806 KY m in Sangamon Co. Aug 18 1833, to John N Viney,
who d Jan 5 1871 and Mrs. Nancy Viney died May 23 1871 without children.
John Viney was a minister connected to the Cumberland Presbyterian
Church.

JOHN b Aug 8 1809 KY, m Aug 4 1831 Sangamon Co. to Sarah Myers. They had
9 chn., 3 d young. Of the other 6--ELMINA d Feb 23 1858 22 yrs old.
DRUSILLA b Aug 30 1837 Sangamon Co. m Jun 20 1856 to James Babcock (9

Richard, William, Laura, Ellen, Albert M, Addie M, Ira J, and Annetta E)
They live near Oreana, Macon Co. IL. THOMAS, B Oct 6 1839 Sangamon Co.,
m Apr 12 1863 to Mary M Lewis, who d Dec 21 1865,and he was m Feb 3 1868
to Emily C Graves, who d Aug 10 1871 leaving a child, Flossie L. Mr.
Black m a 3rd time to Martha J Dodds on Apr 6 1873. They have a son and
live 2 mi east of Auburn. ALBERT M b Sep 14 1843 in Sangamon Co., m Jun
24 1865 to Salome T. Ham. They have 2 children and reside near Pawnee.
ADELINE M b May 25 1847 m Aug 2 1865 to Wm D Patton. She d Jan 26 1875
leaving 2 chn. JOHN W b Sep 29 1851 Sangamon Co., m Feb 2 1873 to Susan
R Kimble. they have two chn: John D and Emily. and reside 3 mi east of
Auburn. John Black died Aug 1 1855 and his widow, Mrs. Sarah Black d Mar
18 1858, both in Auburn twp.

THOMAS b Sep 3 1813 in Christian Co. KY m in Sangamon Co. Mar 7 1855 to
Mary J Wallace, who was b Nov 1 1831. They have three chn. EDITH, MARY
F., and MARCHIE, and reside in less than a half a mile of where his
father settled in 1819, about 3 1/2 mi east of Auburn.

CARTER T b Jan 24 1818 was m Oct 8 1840 to Mary C Coberly, who was b Nov
7 1820. Of their 6 chn.--ELLEN E b Auburn twp Jul 12 1841, m Jul 1 11858
to J.T. Graves. Their 6 chn (Robt. L, Mary N., Zildah S, William J, Mark
and Catherine) They reside in Butler, Bates Co MO. JOSEPH C, b Aug 29
1843 in Auburn twp, d in MO. CHARLES C b Aug 22 1845 Andrew Co MO, d in
Nodaway Co. MO. WILLIAM T., b May 21 1848 Andrew Co MO, m Mary C
Crabtree Dec 29 1869. They had one child James T. Wm T Black and son d
in Bates Co MO. GEORGE H., b Mar 11 1858 in Nodaway Co MO and JOHN D b
Sep 16 1860 in Nodaway Co., reside there.

Mrs Carter Black d May 14 1875, in Nodaway Co MO. Carter Black is now
(1876) in Sangamon Co.

Mrs. Edith A Black d Apr 15 1822 and Thomas Black was m in 1823/24 to
Mrs. Rebecca Viney, whose maiden name was Shiles. She d Feb 13 1851 and
Mr. Black d Nov 3 1851, aged 84 years, both where he settled in 1819.
