Tami,

I have nothing specific on your post (quoted below), but since you
note Western PA, I leave no stone unturned.
I have numerous ancestors in Western PA also. Among them is Mary
BLACK (my ggg-grandmother), who married George GENSAMER of Huntingdon
County, PA, sometime prior to 1840. I'm afraid I have nothing else
except that she may also have been born in Huntingdon Co. If it
helps, they had at least one child, Samuel GENSAMER, b. 31 July 1839,
in Half Moon Township, Centre County.
I also have a death certificate that notes another BLACK female,
with no first name recorded, who married Edward HILL. They had at
least one child, Hannah Margaret HILL, born 15 July 1843. Strangely,
Hannah also married Mary BLACK GENSAMER's son Samuel. This leads
one to speculate that the records could have been confused as to
whether there were two different BLACK women; or they were cousins;
or the surname was an unrelated coincidence. There is still much
work to be done on this line.

If you have anything that connects to the above, let me know. I'm
going to post a copy of my reply on the rootsweb board in case my
reply has any relavance for other Black researchers.
