Donna, Samuel Wesley Barringer would have been the son of Walter S. Barringer who lived in Prince Edward County. In the 1851 Census, he is listed as age 40, born in the U.S., Religion: Pres., occupation: Physician. His wife's name was Nancy M., she is listed as age 33, Religion: WM. Children include: Angeline 10, Mary E. 8, and Albert 6. There is a Ranselaer Barringer listed with them as well, age 16, occupation: Labourer. On pages 873 and 874 of "Pioneer Life on the Bay of Quinte", Nancy is noted as the daughter of Samuel Weeks and Catherine Wynn. It goes on to note that Nancy married Dr. Barringer and settled in Hillier and that their children included: Angeline, Mary, Albert, and Wesley. It further notes that Angeline married Geo. Miller and settled in Hastings County, that Mary married Wm. A. Robinson and settled in Consecon, that Albert married Corinthia Palmer and settled in Michigan, and Wesley married Annie Brooks and settled in Uxbridge. I am descended !
from William Barringer who also resided in Prince Edward County who was likely Walter's brother. A contact I made with a distant relative back in 1984 indicated to me that Walter drowned while crossing a lake in a storm while on the way to visit a patient. I have nothing to back this up except what is stated in that letter. I have a lot of miscellaneous work on this family as I have been working for years on the connections to New York. It has been a challenging line to work with! Please feel free to contact me.
