Hi,
We may very well be cousins. As far as I know our Barringers were Loyalists who crossed to Canada after the war of 1812, but we are supposed to be 'Pennsylvania Dutch' aka German. We could then be related to the American Barringers/Baringers.
My mother now thinks her Grandfather's name may have been Samuel. I found a Samuel in the 1891 Canadian census with a son named Walter, but I can't find any other trace. There is Barringer family website, but I didn't find any names I recognize.
I live in Iowa with my husband and son. All of the Barringers in my family are in Ontario, near Peterborough, north of Toronto.
Nice talking to you, I will hang on to Ron's reply too, perhaps there will be a connection somewhere.
Donna
