In online pages of Old United Empire Loyalists there are some biography
type articles. One says" Paul Barringer, of North Carolina, Authorized by
Governor Martin, January 1776, to erect the King's standard, to enlist and
array in arms the loyal subjects of the county of Mecklenburgh, said " to
oppose all rebels and traitors."
This would have to be John Paul Barringer. Would some descendant know if
he continued to be a loyalist or at some point become a rebel . I know he
wasn't sent to Canada like some of the related people in that area were. I
don't think he lost his property in NC? I was surprised to find him.
I started looking for one David Harkey men but got curious and entered
other related names from that part of NC.
Mary Harkey Russell
