Today, I finally received long awaited Civil War Pension records of one
George Barringer of Monongahela, Pa. I had suspected that he was an older
brother of my g,grandfather William Barringer; but, since this George did
not show up on the 1850 Fayette Co., PA Census with his parents and
siblings, I was not sure.

Well, I paid my $37.00 for the total file and it was money well spent.
George Barringer married Margaret Jane (Loughman) Rose on April 16, 1852.
She had been married to a Benjamin Rose from 1849 until his death in 1851.

Children of George Barringer and Margaret were:

Mary Jane Keller b. April 9, 1853
John H. Barringer b. June 3, 1858
William O. Barringer b. Sept. 6, 1860
Roseanna McLane b. July 22, 1865
Levi Barringer b. March 1, 1868

The above were born in Monongahela, Washington Co. PA.

After the Civil War, George and Margaret settled in Licking Co., Ohio in the
towns of Newark and Brownsville. George died in Brownsville, Ohio on March
28, 1908, and Margaret died at Newark, Ohio on March 7, 1920.

>From the records I know that they had a grandson by the name of Perry R.
Barringer.

Bothers George, John, and William all joined the 79th PA Cavalry within two
days of each other; John and William joined on Sept. 7, 1861 and George
joined on Sept. 9, 1861.

I am still looking for a brother by the name of Joseph Barringer who was
born in 1836.

Does anyone on the list connect to these people? I have info on the rest of
the family.

Thank you,

Marilyn: Lake Co., IL; .
