Do any of you have a William and/or George Barringer, sons of a Joseph
Barringer born the area of PA/MD/VA? Hagerstown, MD and Winchester, VA are
definitely connected to this William and George but as this is an area that
several states come together, the area around Chamberburg PA and
Mantinsburg, WV could possibly have some connection (not necessarily those
towns directly, but that general area). These Barringers (William and
George) were born around the 1780's and moved to Meigs County, OH from
Hagerstown, MD. Since the names are similar (and families tended to use
many of the same names), I wonder if there could be a connection (e.g.
cousins) with the ones you are speaking about.
Any help is appreciated.
Helen

Carol,
I know that my Barringers went back and forth between PA and MD so at some
point there could be a connection.
My g,g,grandfather George Bearinger/Barringer was born in Bedford Co., PA.
My g,grandfather William Barringer was b. in 1838, at Houston Run,
Washington Co., PA.
My William had a son John W. Barringer b. 1870 to his first wife Mary Ann
Rose who died in 1879. He later had two daughters to his second wife, Ida
May Landis b. 1866. The daughters were Sarah Ellen (Barringer) Jenkins,
McCormick and Laure Ety(Barringer) Keiling. Sarah Ellen was my grandmother.
William had brothers so I don't know if any of them had a son William. I
have not been able to get any information on John W. so I don't know the
names of his children.
