Newly received Barringer information causes me to post in the hope of
finding someone related to me.

Just received my great-uncle John Barringer's Civil War papers where I now
know that his wife was a Fannie Roberts and his daughter was a Mary
(Barringer) Harff. Here is the family tree as I now know and have
documented it.

George Barringer b. Aug. 16, 1797, Bedford Co., PA; d.Sept. 16, 1867, Buried
in Monongahela Cemetery, Washington Co., PA. m. Mary Shallenberger b. abt.
1793, Westmoreland Co., PA; d.June 15, 1881, Buried Monongahela Cemetery.

These are the children living with them in the 1850 Fayette Co. , PA Census:

Catherine Barringer b. 1823

John Barringer b. December 17, 1834, Houston Run, PA.; d.July 1, 1908;
Buried Monongahela Cemetery. m. Fannie Roberts b.1838, Monongahela, PA;
d.Dec 29, 1821;
Daughter Mary who married a Harff who lived on Flowers St., Pittsburgh, PA.

Joseph Barringer b. 1836 most likely Houston Run, PA

William Barringer b. Dec. 11, 1838, Houston Run, PA; d. Sept. 16, 1906,
Monongahela, PA. m. # 1 Mary Ann Rose b. Dec. 1842; d. May 5, 1879; one son
John W Barringer b. Oct. 24, 1870; #2 Ida May Landis b.March 6, 1866,
Worthington, PA.; d.April 27, 1948, Akron, Ohio. Two daughters: Sarah Ellen
(Barringer) Jenkins, McCormick b. 1889, Mon City; d. 1974, Akron, Ohio and
Laura Ety (Barringer) Keiling b.1892; d. 1973, Akron, Ohio.

Mariah Jane Barringer b. 1843.

It should also be noted that both William and John Barringer joined the 79th
PA Cavalry on Sept. 7, 1861. Their father, George, joined on Sept. 9, 1861.

I hope that someone on the list can share some additional info with me.
