Subject: [BARRINGER-L] Word of the week: your line
Date: Tue, 01 Dec 1998 07:42:32 PST

Lists, I am soo sorry for having neglected the lists for sooo long.
(about a month now). In November I was in the middle of midterms and
right now I am just starting with finals this Friday. Plus I had to
start a new job because I wasn't making enough money. It's been a
hectic month for me. Things have finally started to settle down and I
will have more time to take care of the lists.

For this week's word of the week, we are doing something that has not
been done for quite a few months. We have had a bunch of new
subscribers (over 200 in November alone) and so this gives all of us
more opportunity to find new cousins. This week, and probably through
next week while I'm taking my finals, I want everyone to post their
complete lines (or as complete as possible). There is one main rule for
this because in the past, we have had people try to attach gedcoms to
their email....don't do this!! Post your line and then if someone
connects, email the gedcom to them privately if they want it. Attaching
gedcoms to your messages adds a lot of stress to the rootsweb server.

IMPORTANT: To send your post, do not just click reply and send your
post to me, instead start a whole new message addressed to
where you replace "SURNAME" with the name of the
list (ei: BARRINGER, BLACK, BRADFORD, COVENTRY, ELLER, HACKETT, KERN)
Notice that there is no "-request"....the request address is only for
subscribing and unsubscribing. If you send it to the request address,
it won't go to the list.

A NOTE ABOUT SUBJECT LINES: Most people choose which messages to read
based on the subject line. Try to provide as much info as possible
about your post in it. A good example is like with my Bradford line, it
went from PA, to MD, to NC from 1760's to the present. A good subject
line for that would be PA>MD>NC 1760's-now just as an example.

Good luck everyone!:)
