Question: What was the role/responsibility of the individual named as the
BONDSMAN on early marriages (I have several in NC)? Was there in fact a
monetary bond posted in relation to the marriage license?
Help Please- I am also looking for information on the NC Barringer family of
John Barringer b. abt 1810 in NC, who married Elizabeth abt. 1836 in Rowan
Co., NC. Their children were, Aaron R Barringer, Moses Alexander, Lavina,
and Eve Ann Elizabeth. Father to John Barringer was Nicholas
Barringer/mother-Christina Peeler(?). Any information on this line would be
greatly appreciated.
