Tom,
Don't have much specifically on your brothers, but here is what I do
have; it's from a book on HARTSELL by Eunice Hartsell Sechler.
Dutch Buffalo Creek rises near Organ and Lowerstone churches in SE Rowan
county and flows SE through Cabarrus (this would have been Mecklenburg
at the time of your Barringers), then spills into the Rocky River at NC
Hwy 200 near Georgeville. The creek was named for the Pennsylvania
"Deutsch" (German) who settled the area. The spelling has been
transformed to Dutch over the years. As a note, Cabarrus was formed from
the eastern portion of Mecklenburg in 1792.
The Barringers you are looking for were probably neighbors of Johann
Leonhardt Hartsell and wife Esther as they are mentioned in quite a few
documents that are contained in Eunice's book. Among these are Paul
Barringer's signature on a petition to the Governor of NC in November
1771. Also Paul, George, and Mathias appear in the papers for the
settlement of Johann Leonhardt's estate. Paul in conjunction with a
mortgage on some of Johann's property, and George and Mathias bought
some of his posessions. Usually these sales were attended by neighbors
for the most part.
One of the major churches for this area was originally known as "Dutch
Buffalo Meeting House" or "Dutch Buffalo Creek Meeting House" and later
became known as St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Barringers
may have been part of this congregation.

This is all I have on the Barringers, I hope it helps. GOD bless and
