Finally! It's mid-winter break (I'm a teacher), I've managed to find my
computer free (we have two teenagers) and I'd like to share some Barringer
info! My mom was (and still is!) a Barringer. I'm not too familiar with the
reporting of geneological info and have found some of the messages posted
indeciperable, so I'll keep this simple: My Great Uncle Bert Barringer, put
together a rough, but fairly detailed, family tree in the late 1960's.
According to this, I have learned that his brother was my grandfather, William
Marcus Barringer (1891-1968). He married Essy Chamberlain and they had 8
children, the oldest daughter being my mother. WM's father was Fredrick Giles
Barringer (1862-1944), who married Elizabeth Crawford in Penfield, NY. FG's
father was Marcus William Barringer (1828-1903) who married Juliette Peck
(1839-1895) in Clarendon, NY on September 16, 1856. MW's father was Fredrick
David Berringer (note spelling change) (1791-1873) who married Sophronia
Simmons. FD's father was David Berringer, one of 3 brothers who came to US
from"Loraine on French side of Rhine R. about 1785." (He also had 2 sisters.)
According to Uncle Bert's notes, David settled east of Albany, one brother
settled in New Jersey, and one in Pennsylvania. There are listing of
offspring, dates and places mentioned are mostly in NYS. Would be interested
in hearing more from my "cousins" and would like to know if Erin is the one
putting a book together? Linda Hughson Pacelli
