Duncan, Ariz., Dec., 31 1885:
The Rangers who had been in pursuit of hostile Indians have returned. They report that while on the trail of the hostiles the Indian scouts refused to follow it, and denied the officer in command to compel them to obay his orders. The chase had to be abandoned and the troops returned here without having accomplished anything. Telegraphs have been sent to General Cook asking for instructions. The Indian scouts are armed and the officers do not wish to try to disarm them.
The Indians and the soldiers are now camped here, separately.
