Census hunting has brought me to the following information
Moses Carlton Ayer livng in Newport (Sullivan) NH
married to Lois Nichols Felch Ayer
Children are 1.Mary J. B. Ayer born 1843 (according to the census) 2.Simon Carlton Ayer born 1848 (he married an Alice Jael later, obviously)
3.Oliver P. born 1856
4. Samuel P. born 1859/1860

and they also had in 1850 a young man of 17 years by the name of Simon P_____ living with them. In 1860 they also had a young man of 17 by the name of Simon Tenney living with them.
Information on Lois Nichols Felch Ayer goes back quite extensively here on Ancenstry.com but I am more than willing to share what info I have. I also have a photo of Lois Nichols Felch Ayer and Moses Carlton Ayer, taken circa 1850 that I am happy to share with you.
I have the cemetary that moses Carlton Ayer is buried in as Northville Cemetary in Newport NH, it is just a footstone, B29 according to the cemetary map. And according to cemetary records he died 30 April, 1864.
I have also found a little more information on Benjamin Whitaker and some records tracing them out to Nebraska. Should you like this info please contact me! or 231 757 2298. Thanks and good luck
Lisa Whitaker Runk
