Albuquerque Journal - October 19, 2003

"Jay" S. J. Ayer , 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1990, died Wednesday, October 15, 2003. He is survived by his son, Samuel James Ayer Jr. and his wife Valerie, of Texas; daughter, Belinda Banks of Nebraska; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sisters, Claudia, Joyce, and Dennie; lifelong friend, Elsie Harrell and her sons, Gary and James. Mr. Ayer was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Church of Christ. He worked for the El Paso Natural Gas Co. for over 30 years. Mr. Ayer served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II as a bomber pilot. Cremation has taken place French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 275-3500
