I feel as if I've hit the jackpot on the first penny!
My dad's name was Alton Abner Ayer (b.3/1/24 in Austin, MN; d.11/12/91, Columbia, MO), the son of Herbert Alton Ayer and Geneva Annonson Ayer, both died in Mason City, IA (the years, I don't know).
Herbert and Geneva's other children were/are: Twyla Ayer Eldridge (d.), Mason City; Laveen Ayer Brown (d.), Bloomington, MN; Donald Ayer, Marietta, GA, and Gloria Ayer Baker, Minneapolis (I think).
Dad had two Ayer uncles that I remember, "Uncle Jess," a captain or lieutenant commander in the USN Med. Corps in WW1, and "Uncle Sam," who I know lived in Northern CA. and maybe in OR. I do seem to remember Dad saying something about Grandma having a sister, and that she married his (Dad's) uncle, but I really cannot be sure.
