The info you gave re Thomas Ayer coincides with what I have on him. However, I can add that he had at least one more son, namely Zacheus Ayer--my ancestor. Zacheus Ayer moved to Tennessee, probably in the 1790's, and lived in what eventually became Roane County. One of his son's, Alexander Outlaw Ayer, a physician, moved to Daviess County, Kentucky, in 1833. His son, Alexander Hamilton Ayer was the father of Henry Mason Ayer, father of Henry C. Ayer--my father. I have quite a bit more information about all this, if anyone is interested.
