By your description you are indeed descended from Thomas Ayer (1723?-1781)and Sarah Frances Malone Ayer (d. before 1795). That is the good news. The bad news is I am not sure where you fit. The eldest child of Thomas and Sarah was Ann Margaret Ayer (known as Ann Peggy), who was named after Sarah's mother Ann Peggy Dinkins. Ann Peggy married James Magee (also spelled Megee and McGee). She and James had a number of children. Ann Peggy actually died in childbirth on July 25, 1802, when she was almost 50 years old. Obvously, you must have been descended from one of their three male children: Zacheus (b. abt. 1771), William (b. abt. 1776) and Hartwell (b. abt. 1782). I have not information on the descendants of these three. We really need the next two generations to fill in your ancestry.
Sam is indeed a relative of yours. He is descended from Sarah Magee (b. abt. 1773), who would have been the sister of Zacheus, William and Hartwell. If you are able to give us any more details, we might be able to help further.
