I received the following as a response to my Sarah Ayer/ John Hills post:

>>There is probably an error somewhere in your query re: Sarah Ayer and John Hills.
Yes, a Sarah Ayer was born October 27, 1730 to Ebenezer and Susanna Ayer.
Yes, a John Hill(s) was born was born July 9, 1822 to John and Elizabeth Hill(s).
What would a connection between them be?<<

At first i was wondering what this person was talking about. Then i looked a little closer. I found a problem and maybe you all can help.

First of all...Ebenezer Ayer was born 18 Feb 1704. He married Susannah Kimball on 29 March 1726. Susannah died 19 Sep 1749. Ebenezer died 3 March 1762. This information came from "History of Treman, Tremaine, Truman family in America, Vol 2".

So what you say? I looked further. All the children of this couple were born from 1727-1760. Sarah and Philip are listed as the third and fourth children born. Sarah 27 Oct 1830 and Philip 28 Feb 1831.

How could Sarah and Philip have been children of this couple if they were born 100 years after their brothers and sisters? The parents had been dead well over half a century. I guess the book has an error or something. Oh well...i shall continue the search....but

Then I got mail from Mariana. It quoted the Methuen VR p 11. Yes, from the wonderful CD that I really MUST buy. :-) The town vital records also record the birth as 1830. It aslo says Sarah is the daughter of Ebenezer AYER and Susannah.

Now I have a real problem. Could there have been a second Ebenezer AYER who married a Susannah 100 years later. One that was in Methuen and moved to Salem like his ancestor had 100 years earlier?

Could the vital record just be wrong? Perhaps this Sarah was really born in 1730 as my good buddy stated in his e-mail?

If she was born in 1730...then she definately was not the wife of John HILLS. He was born in 1822. I do know that one is correct. I am looking for his wife, Sarah AYER. I still want to find her. Anybody capable of straigtening this one out? Please..... :-)

Thanks again
Dan Hills
