Hi Listers,
I'm trying to find out if this station really existed, somewhere in the
old Wimmera District. It's referred to in "Pastoral Pioneers of Port
Phillip" by Billis and Kenyon, but not in "Victorian Squatters" by
Spreadborough and Anderson, which I think might be more accurate. The
owner is given as Henry Byass, but all the other references to Henry in
the book are wrong - it's actually Dr Lovel Byass from Portland.
We have some information about Dr Lovel Byass, but almost none on Henry
(b. 1826), who was on Mount Sturgeon Run in 1844, Bendigo Creek (Mount
Alexander Run) in 1851 and the *arriving* in Vic in 1856. No BDM info
in Vic, NSW or the UK.
Does anyone have any clues, or suggestions where else I could look?
Regards,
Robyn
