Hello List,
Would anyone know the name & locality (eg Narromine or Dubbo?) of a newspaper which would have reported sporting events, fires & other calamities, news etc covering Trangie area early 1900s to mid 1900s? If so, would appreciate yr guidance,
Also would like to hear if Narromine Shire Council library would hold any archives relating to past newsworthy events?
Hoping to hear,Helen/Sydney> From: > To: > Date: Mon, 28 Jan 2008 11:49:23 +1100> Subject: Re: [AUS-NSW-PILLIGA] Which List for Trangie please?> > > Thanks for yr reply Peter: My BRIDEKIRK lot were all born Trangie around 1912-1919, their Dad being the stock & station agent there (Bridekirk & McPhee) until the sons (& their mates John Horrigan, Harold Carman et al) all enlisted for WW2. My Grandfather Joseph Frederick Bridekirk moved to Trangie to "buy into" the partnership from Narromine after becoming engaged to my Grandmother in 1910. He was also known as "Bridie" and took part in all sports & was secretary of the local racing club. Their property was named "BEULAH" which was only a "5 minute ride away" from town.> I know pretty much all of the Bridekirk history in Trangie but have a lot to share on their friends & associates (all pioneer families of that area) including photos espec. of the Horrigan family.> Families I'm researching & want to find decendants from are:> HORRIGAN John Thomas & wife Selina & 4 children, property owners> GIBB/S Walter, brothers as well, property owners> CARMAN all, ran the Trangie grocery store> RUSS family esp. Ambrose aka "Ambie Russ" property owner> >>> lots of other families which I don't known about yet but which I'm sure my Grandparents would have known as they would have been his 'clients' not only for sheep but also a Buick dealership, my Grandfather driving their Buicks from Sydney back to Trangie, detailing & delivering them. I know also that most of the local families used to have picnics together when they would also 'trade' their meat, vegetables etc. (no refrigeration then) & these picnics were also good social occasions as well.> I asked a LOT of questions when I was young & kept asking them, I must have been a pest in that respect although my Grandmother & Mother didn't think so & now I'm putting together their story. Would like v. much to receive as much information regarding Trangie & surrounds as possible,> Regards> Helen/Sydney> Helen> From: > To: > Date: Sun, 27 Jan 2008 20:52:38 +1000> Subject: Re: [AUS-NSW-PILLIGA] Which List for Trangie please?> > Helen> > what period are you talking of in Trangie - my father and his sisters were > born the in the late 1926> > cheers> > > Peter Page> ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Helen Woodward" <>> To: <>> Sent: Friday, January 25, 2008 2:21 PM> Subject: [AUS-NSW-PILLIGA] Which List for Trangie please?> > > >> > Hi Everyone,> > Following Tony Moore's link to Rootsweb Lists, which I explored, I'm > > hoping someone can assist me as to which Rootsweb List would cover the > > Trangie area where my grandparents were Stock & Station Agents.> > Any help appreciated,Helen/Sydney> > _________________________________________________________________> > Your Future Starts Here.
