I am new to this list, and am posting my research interests:

Percy READ married to Jean ??

I have two different family stories of how Percy died. How do I go about
verifying or rejecting these stories:

Percy died as a result of a felon's blow, when he disturbed a burglary in
progress at his home. Another version states that he was killed by a crooked
policeman who wanted Percy's farm. ????

Percy's father was Jonathan Cornelius READ. Percy came to Australia from
Beccles, Suffolk, England. He died in Australia. He served in the British
Army in WWI and I believe was given land here as part of a soldiers
settlement. He and Jean may have lived at Mallanganee NSW. I believe Jean
lived at maurooba (Sydney) in a nursing home which closed. She then went to
live in Ballina.

Unfortunately, the only information to date any of this is Percy's parents
d.o.b's and marriage date:

Jonathan Cornelius READ - b. Oct 05 1867
Emma BUCK - b. July 23 1866

Married : June 1888.

Percy eldest sister (Eva Alice May READ) was born oct 10, 1989.
