Hi,

I'm new to your listing and would very much appreciate some help, it's a case of being able to track a persons at their birth and before, back to 1772, but then no trace again until 1929 when he married for the second time in Sydney having been widowed, details as follows:

Lawrence Levi Glover

Born 1884 . Thought to have been Leicestershire or nearby county.

Died 28th November 1947. Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England.

Lawrence's parents moved away from their hometown in Wigston Magna, Leicestershire together with his sister Lilian and I have been unable to trace their whereabouts (see parents details below).

WW1 he served in the 1st Battalion of the Lincolnshire Regiment in France with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant from May 1918 until March 1919, Thought to have been in another regiment prior to this.

Subsequently emigrated to Australia date not known but thought to have been immediately after the war and returned to England in 1931 having married Kate Taylor in Sydney 16th of July 1929.

Was married previously, possibly in Australia and then widowed at some stage, said to have had 2 daughters by this marriage. This is an area that I am very keen to establish.

He was shown on the marriage cert to Kate Florence Taylor. as Manufacturer of Gas.

Lawrence Levi Glover's parents are shown on the marriage cert. as:

Father: Thomas Glover (Hosiery Manufacturer)

Mother: Harriet Measures.

What we do know is that he was a very keen cricketer and certainly played in Sydney and according to my mother played against W.G. Grace in Sydney. He also moved around in Australia and was something of a drifter.

Any connections or leads would be greatly appreciated.

Dave Glover in NZ
