Hi all
My current Hunter research interests are:
1. Buchanan (Portree, Isle of Skye to Maitland and Singleton)
2. James Leonard Smith (England to Morpeth, Hunter and then to Redfern,
Sydney)
3. Peck-Wheeler (Lincolnshire, Caythorpe and Brant Broughton, to
Kalkallo, Victoria, and then to Hunter, Lochinvar and Luscantyre), and
then to Moree.
Concerning Buchanans, I particularly want to track down two siblings,
Mary Buchanan (b.c. 1830, Portree) and Malcolm Buchanan (b.c. 1833,
Portree) of my ancestor, Catherine Parsons, nee Buchanan (b.c. 1832
Portree, parents, Malcolm Buchanan and Catherine McIntosh). I am unable
to find a marriage for the two siblings, either because they were
married in the Presbyterian Church before civil registration or died
without marrying.
I am looking for the first marriage of James Leonard Smith (b.c. 1848
England, d. Tamworth 1930; parents, Charles Smith and Emily Spencer).
The marriage would have taken place in Morpeth or Redfern (or nearby
Sydney surburb), possibly to a Bowman or variation (Baumann etc).
Regading Pecks, I would like to contact any descendants of a sibling,
Phoebe Wheeler, nee Peck (b.14 April 1865, Woodstock, Victoria) of my
ancestor, Charlotte Peck (b. Lochinvar, Hunter, 28 February, 1872;
parents, Samuel Peck and Annie Williams). Phoebe married a Richard
Stanley Wheeler (b. 1850 at Maitland; parents, Richard and Anne Wheeler)
at Moree in 1883.
Regards
Maxwell Smith.
