Delaphine "Della" (Rogers) Feil

September 16, 1926 ~ May 23, 2012

Delaphine "Della" Feil passed from this life peacefully at home on May
23, 2012, after a long battle with illness. She will be remembered as a
longtime resident of the Wenatchee Valley by many who met her during her
nearly 40 years managing the Feil Fruit Stand in Baker's Flat. Delaphine
Rogers entered this world September 16, 1926, as the third of four
daughters born to Dorothy May Moser and husband, Owther Lee Rogers in
Wiseman, AR. Delaphine grew up in Wiseman and graduated from Violet Hill
High School, where she was an active member of the basketball team. In
her senior year, she helped her team win the state championship. Her
name is memorialized at the school with all other alumni. She met her
first husband, William Warren Langston, in Wiseman and they married in
1946. They welcomed their son, Larry, on September 30, 1947. The family
moved to Wenatchee when Larry was a toddler. Warren took a position at
Montgomery Ward and Della embarked on a career as a checker at the old
downtown Safeway. After her husband's early death in 1959, Delaphine
briefly relocated back to Arkansas. Returning to Wenatchee, she resumed
her career, this time at the old south end Safeway. Della was an avid
bowler and was a member of the Women's League in Wenatchee. It was at
the bowling lanes that she met her second husband, Jack O. Feil.
Delaphine and Jack married in 1963, and welcomed their son, Robin, on
January 18, 1964. The same year, she began working at the Feil Fruit
Stand, which she later managed. She and her husband continued to bowl
together for the next two decades. She retired as full-time manager of
the fruit stand in 2002. Throughout their 48 year marriage, Delaphine
and Jack took pleasure in the simple things, like eating out and
spending time with each other and their children. She liked to take
trips. She often traveled with her husband to bowling tournaments, to
Reno for fun, or back to Arkansas to visit her mother, her sisters and
her extended family, where she was affectionately known as Phine. Della
was always happy to take a day trip with her son, Larry, simply to keep
him company and stay involved in his life. She loved playing cards and
games with friends and family. She also stayed a true sports enthusiast,
following both college and professional teams on television. Della was
devoted to her family, especially her children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. She actively rejoiced in their personal, academic
and professional achievements. She was very close to her sisters and her
two very "special sisters," her niece, Sue Forbes, and her first cousin,
Willene Gaston. Della received great joy from spending time with her
family. She loved celebrating birthdays and holidays, surrounded by as
many family members as possible. As her family, we will remember her for
many different reasons, including her oatmeal, her coupons, her spunk,
her amazing fruit pies, her keen strategy at the pinochle table, her
smile, her laughter, and her cute southern sayings. Mostly, we will miss
her love and support.

Delaphine was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; and
her two older sisters, Avis Bobbitt and Anna Lee Hailey. She is survived
by her husband, Jack; her son, Larry Langston and wife, Lynelle of
Leavenworth; her son, Robin Feil and his wife, Andrea of Wenatchee; her
granddaughter, Kimberly Langston of Leavenworth; her grandson, Kortney
Langston and wife, Jenae of Camas, WA; her great-grandchildren, Kellie,
Ryan, Karter and Harper, all of Camas, WA; her younger sister, Evelyn
Bond and husband, Forrest of Williamsburg, KS; and numerous nieces,
nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A Memorial Service will be held for Della on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at
11:00 a.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley on Grant Road. An Interment
Service will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Memorial donations may
be made to the American Diabetes Association or Central Washington
Hospital Hospice. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley,
East Wenatchee.
