Kenneth Junior "Jay" Robins
Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Kenneth Junior "Jay" Robins, 64, of East Wenatchee, WA, went home to the Lord peacefully, Monday, August 29, 2011, with lots of family by his side. He was born December 5, 1946, in Oxford, AR to Kenneth B. "Doc" and Oma (Sherrell) Robins. Jay graduated from Eastmont High School in 1964, and Wenatchee Valley College in 1966. He later went on to graduate from Arkansas State University in 1968. He had lived in East Wenatchee for 60 years. Having a tremendous work ethic, he had been business owner of Tropical Sno Products, and was the previous owner of Oma's Country Store in Rock Island. He had also been Publisher of the Douglas County Empire Press, worked at The Wenatchee World and Swim World in Wenatchee, and had been a supervisor at a gold mine in Idaho. He was also Manager at Midland Trucking for a while.
Jay had a son, Kenneth J. Robins, Jr. and a daughter, Connie Renee Robins Neel. He met and married Julie Johnson DeChenne in 1979, and was a loving father to her son, Gary "Matthew" DeChenne. Jay was involved in Little League as a Coach and was also involved with Take Pride In America. He loved fishing and travelling with the love of his life, his wife, Julie. Jay was proudest of his children and grandchildren, and they all held a very special place in his heart. He was a great chef, was very spiritual and was a father figure to many. He was a wonderful joke teller, singer and impressionist. His friends and family will always remember his larger than life personality and his laughter. He will be greatly missed by many, whose lives he touched.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Robins of East Wenatchee; his children, Kenneth Jay Robins of East Wenatchee, Connie Renee; (Scott) Neel of Kennewick and Gary "Matthew" DeChenne of Wenatchee; his brothers, DeWayne (Connie) Robins of Rock Island and Dan Robins of East Wenatchee; his grandchildren, Logan and Levi DeChenne, Abby and Spencer Neel and Evan Oliver Robins; and many nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Oma Robins; and his brothers, Laverne Garner Robins and Ronnie G. Robins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at the Wenatchee Community Center, 504 S. Chelan Avenue, Wenatchee. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
