Subject: [ARIZARD] What do the numbers mean?
This fasinates me and always has.
Guess my tribe is either "Indian Wannabe" or "Indian Maybe."
Do you understand all these numbers: page # = okay, roll number= okay.
But 15 & 13 - or - Card #16 - - - is that a rating system for strength of
blood ties?
Or, a clan # ???
Seems like Cherokee's have 7 clans within the tribe, but Creek and another
tribe or 2 got lumped in with them too. Can't find those notes right now.
"John was 15 Full blood Card# 16, page 240 enrolled#70 Cherokee by blood It
also lists another John as being 13 card# 16, Muskoggee blood brother (BB).
John's father Jacob Watts 43 full blood Card #16 roll #59 Muskogg BB. "
What makes sense to you? Marsha

For all you Langston researchers I found some info that I thought was very
interesting. i was looking for a Mary Elizabeth Watts who married Symon
Stacy and noticed Sarah Langstons name so decied to see if it was our Sarah
and it was. She was born 26 Jan.1821 in Calico Rock Ar. to Jehoida Jesse
Langston and Christiana Hawkins. She married an Indian by the name of
Emanuel Watts b. Sep 22 1823 in Eastern Cherokee Terr., Tn. His mother was a
full blood Cherokee named Emily Ross. Dad, John was 3/4 Cherokee. One of
their relatives was a Chief! So if you know any Langstons who are related to
the Watts, they have Indian ancestry. I also noticed where another Langston
named Eli Barton, b. Feb 1854 in Izard Co. married Melinda Elizabeth Watts,
Sarah and Emanuel's daughter--so all their langston kids on down would be
Indians. I found all this on rootsweb world connect on page 12 under Mary
Elizabeth Watts. There is no mention of the
Indian on the Langston or Watts that I could find anywhere else, but I din't
look thru everything. On the Dawes RollI found 2 John Watts --I think they
are both the same. John was 15 Full blood Card# 16, page 240 enrolled#70
Cherokee by blood. It also lists another John as being 13 card# 16,
Muskoggee blood brother (BB). John's father Jacob Watts 43 full blood Card
#16 roll #59 Muskogg BB. Hope this will help some of you guys--sorry to say,
it din't help me. Glenna Goodwin
