This information found on ancestry.com in Military Record Enlistments:

WHITFIELD, Briant; Age 21, b. Montgomery Co, TN; Farmer; Enlisted:  05 November 1832, at Vandalia, by Captain DUNCAN; for one year; Discharge:  14 September 1833, at St. Louis, MO.

Not being familiar with some place names of early-day Arkansas, do not recognize Vandalia; however, the ones on these pages seem to all be in Arkansas, as others are Cave Springs and numerous ones in Batesville.  I am not familiar with another name -- Versasilles.  A few listed  in Fort Gibson (later Oklahoma); I presume the reason was this was part known as "Western Arkansas" before Indian Removal and establishing "Twin Territories" of Indian and Oklahoma.

The handwriting is small, neat and clear.  Information in this List on few who died, with cause and date.

Peggy
