All,
I'm just now catching up on some of my reading----haven't been here forever it seems.
When I read this, I had to comment-----we've got some groundhogs there in CR, literally the week that it rained like
crazy on Sat afternoon about two or three weeks ago, I had the darned little critter come up to the back steps and nibble on my wonderful purple oxalis in a pot. He had a nice snack. If I am remembering right they are also called woodchucks and are vegetarian so I'm really surprised that more of the neighbors hadn't had them eating their tomatoes in particularly. And maybe they have been but I just haven't talked to the neighbor with the problems yet.
We've also got a resident turtle there too. He waddles out through the pasture early in the mornings usually but spends the
night underneath the back wooden steps. We've got little critters all over the place but that was the first that I had actually seen the groundhog eating his snack at the flowerpot.
Hope Gen is not correct about it going to be a humdinger of a winter but I won't be surprised.
About the birdbaths, I've had to double up on the tablets to prevent mosquitos from developing in the water this year.
I was even doctoring the mud puddles. It's been a very interesting wet springtime and summer there it seems.
Beth

I've seen terrapins eating tomatoes and a few other things before. One never knows. I still think it's a sign of one humdinger of a winter blast coming soon. Yecch! I hate the cold!
