Calico Rock Progress - Apr 22, 1949 – Elisha A. Vines Dies at Home Near Gorby
Elisha A. Vines, aged 79, died at his home near Gorby, April 5, following several days illness. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. C. Stewart, pastor of the Calico Rock Baptist Church and burial was in Palestine Cemetery, with the Roller Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mr Vines was born in Walker County, Alabama and came to Arkansas in 1882. He was married to Arravilla Mason in 1892 to which union nine children were born. He united with the Baptist Church at an early age and lived a devout Christian until death. He is survived by three sons, Alfred, Osbia and Robert; one daughter, Mrs Almiria North; one sister, two half-sisters, two half-brothers, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
