Wanda O. Shoemaker, 81, died August 20, 2001 at CKMC-St. Joseph Campus, Larned. She was born September 14, 1919, at Calico Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of Herman and Mollie Rose (Fitzhugh) Reeves. (My note - Mollie's maiden name was Rhoades. Her 2nd husband was Fitzhugh.) A life-time Larned resident she was a retired nurse aid at the former Gleason Hospital and had worked in the dietary department at Larned State Hospital, Larned. She attended the First Baptist Church, Larned.
On August 25, 1944, she married W. H. Shoemaker at Oxford, Arkansas. He died June 12, 2000.
Survivors include: a son, Victor, Larned; three daughters, Robbie Luttrell, Centerton, Arkansas, Mary Ostrander, Topeka, Patsy Rinkie, Lawrence; two brothers, Robert Reeves, Olive Branch Mississippi, John Reeves, Eudora, Kansas; a sister, Maggie Wilson, Calico Rock, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by a son, Eddie; brother Carl Reeves; two sisters, Zaretta McClellan, JoAnn Turnage and a granddaughter, Tereca Luttrell.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with the Rev. Johnny Augmon presiding. Friends may call until 8 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.
