MELBOURNE--Pleas Rufus Winkle, 81, of Mount Pleasant died Satursday, April 24, 1999, in a local hospital.
Born Oct. 5, 1917, he was the son of Henry and Ora Sipe Winkle. He was a retired farmer, a U.S.Army veteran of WWII and a member of the Barren Fork Masonic Lodge #181. He was a member and deacon of the Independent Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant.
Survivors include a son, Jack Winkle of Kansas City, Ks; and two daughters, Darla Clouse of Mount Pleasant and Sue Hess of Batesville.
He was preceded by his parents, his wife, Claudia Moser Winkle; two sisters; and a brother.
Burial was at Barren Fork Cemetery.
