That's probably true in a lot of cases but I'm one of those that thinks
things can always be improved....in fact, I'm always looking for a better
way in everything that I do. But I really don't think that's true in the
new FTM version. Just to make sure that wasn't my problem, I left all my
own research on the old version and put all my new research on the 2008 that
I do for others. And I do a lot of it.and I can tell you for a fact it's
You use to be able to manipulate the screen so you could see the net,
e-mail, plus, but the new version promps are in such odd places you have to
continuously move the screens around. Also, you can't see as much data on
the 1st page now as you use to, just have to go back and forth, back and
forth, or least I do. I hate the new prompt where you add people. And I
think the thing I miss the most is the note page...it's just not as large
and that's why I needed a program in the first page so I wouldn't have to
keep going to my hard copy.
Well, enough of my b_____, but I don't think we're the only ones unhappy
from what I've heard on other lists. I thought I'd look around and see if
there were other program out there that I think I would like but so far
haven't run across one as good as the old FTM. I'd be happy with it if my
version would print a Gedcom that I like.
If anyone is out there that has a program they like that has a good note
section and a good 1st page that shows a lot of info, I'd like to hear about
I think the biggest thing is... if you've used something else and got used
to it, then you may not like the "CHANGE" factor... For you, you might
thing it's the greatest thing since sliced bread! Because you weren't used
to any other program.
I started out with FTM Version 4... upgraded up to 11 and just never
upgraded since, as I heard you couldn't do certain things with the newer
versions. I'm one of these that HATES CHANGE... I'd rather be using DOS,
than Windows... but don't have much choice it seems.
