Notes for MARTHA CAROLINE ROBERTS:
Aug 28, 1913 - Anderson Community
The people of this place were on last Sunday morning surprised to learn that Mrs. Martha Tate, wife of Hyram Tate had eloped with R. D. Fulbright. Mr. Fulbright has been a good citizen and was deputy sheriff. He left an honorable family, a wife and four children and Mrs. Tate left a good husband and three children, taking her fourth child, a baby, with her. Up to the present writing nothing has been heard of them.

Burial record: Share a stone with his wife; Martha.

Martha must have found that Sheriff Fulbright was not all that he was cut
out to appear and returned to her children and husband. They sure lived
many, many more years together, didn't they?

iii.AUDIE MINNIE TATE, b. Mar 13, 1908, Anderson, Izard County, Arkansas; d. 2008; m. CHARLEY GRIGSBY; d. 1982.

Notes for AUDIE MINNIE TATE:
Excerpt from an interview with Audie in DOWN MEMORY LANE IV by Betty Guthrie McCollum and Sue Shell Chrisco:
May 2001
.....Now I'd like to tell some about my husband's family. My husband's mother's people came Horse Cave, Kentucky. His father was William Grigsby, but he went by the name of Will, and his people came from Tennessee. Charley's mother was Eva Spencer Grigsby. Her mother and father had most of their children in Kentucky. Eva was the youngest, and the first born in Batesville, Arkansas on Chestnut Street in a beautiful old home that was still there and in good shape the last time I was there in 1993. Eva and her siblings had a big feud over the estate of their parents. Unfortunately they did not have anything to do with one another after that, so we did not really know them. About three years ago my girls got letters by Federal Express, that they were heirs to an estate. Ina got hers first, and she called Nina. Nina had not got hers yet Ina told her about it and Nina thinking it was some sort of joke, just laughed. But as it turned out, it wasn't a joke. Eva Spencer G!
rigsby's brother John, had a daughter and her name was Geraldine Spencer. She married William Schwab. She and her husband had a big farm in Eureka, Kansas. Her husband had died after he died, the estate would be divided among her survivors. They only ones left were her cousins. She was Charley's first cousin, so his part of the estate was divided between the girls. They got several thousand dollars. Charley had one brother and three sisters. Charley's mother had eleven children. She had two sets of twins. Only five of her children lived to be adults. His sister Lizzie, married Bill Tate. Hanford Grigsby, Charley's only brother, married Ida Clark. Charley was the third child. Lucy was the fourth child and she married a cousin of mine, Sheridan Blassingame. They had two sets of twins also, but they had a lot of bad luck. Three of their children were born with hemophelia; that's a blood disease where the blood won't clot. I remember one of their little boys at!
about three years of age, went to get down from the table, hi!
s his ch
in on the edge of the table biting a small hole in his tongue. He bled to death. They could not get the bleeding stopped. One of the other boys lived to be thirteen years old, and he bled to death in Gray's Hospital in Batesville. The third boy is still living; he's in St. Louis. He has to be very cautious in everything he does. He has to have blood transfusions quite often. Charley's youngest sister was Lola, and she married Truman Forshee, his brother, and his three sisters have all passed away. Lola's husband, Truman Forshee, and myself, are the only one's left out of the spouses. So the family is all gone except the two of us....
