Mildred,
I looked on web for Chism. You can go to this website, it says texas but it
starts out with Kentucky Chism families. I didn't take time to read it all
but it looked interesting. Go to www.texasgen.org
Also I looked on AC and found some family trees. I'm not sure if they are
yours or not since you didn't send any dates to look for.
Here is what I found:

he was married (date not shown) to Ellin Chism (date not shown). Ellin was
born abt. 1797 in Kentucky.

I don't know if this will help prove the Cherokee heritage or not, these may
not even be your same bunch. They came from "One World Tree"
