This is taken from Izard Co Historian, Oct 1896 vol 17 no. 4. . Submitted by

LAURA LOU DIXON HUNT was the youngest daughter of Benjamin Franklin Dixon
and Sarah Harris Dixon. Their children were: Benjamin F. Dixon, Jr., born
and died the same day, Sep. 1859. Lizzie Dixon, born Jan. 20, 1865 married
Joe Lewis, photographer. They had no children, however, Lizzie raised
Eathel, Joe's child by a previous marriage. Lizzie was called Eddy or Eddie.

Laura Lou, born Aug. 24, 1867, married Owen Thomas Watkins Hunt, Children
born to Lou and O.T. Hunt were: Clarice Elizabeth Hunt, Mattie Lucille Hunt,
and Mabel Dixon Hunt. Lucille was born May 1, 1896 and Mabel May 3, 1903.
Three children died shortly after birth. O.T. Hunt was born at Wild Haws,
near La Crosse, Izard County and Lou Dixon Hunt was born at the mouth of
Piney Creek on the White River, Izard County. O.T.'s occupation was
traveling salesman (what was then known as a drummer.)

THE FAMILY OF OWEN HUNT AND LAURA LOU DIXON HUNT

The following family genealogy was furnished Virginia Morris Monan,.

Clarice Elizabeth Hunt Morris was born April 25, 1890 in Melbourne, Izard
County, Arkansas. She was the oldest daughter of Owen Thomas Watkins Hunt
and Laura Lou Dixon Hunt, both descendants of pioneer Izard County families.

OWEN HUNT was the son of Josephus B. Hunt and Mary Elizabeth Puckett Hunt.
The children of J. B. & Mary E. (called Molly) Hunt were: James Newton Hunt,
born Sep. 3, 1862, married Mary Elizabeth Porter. Maggie Lee Hunt, born Jan.
31, 1864, married Jeffery Dixon (Lou's cousin). Owen Thomas Watkins Hunt,
born April 9, 1865, married Lou Dixon. Mattie Laura Hunt, born March 12,
1867, married H. H. Harris. Hubert Henry Hunt, born April 12, 1872, married
Bessie Stephens, 2nd Callie Patterson.

Mary Nellie Hunt, born Dec. 9, 1974, married George Harris Trevathan.
Tazwell Davis Hunt, born Oct. 18, 1876, married Zula Waters. John Fisher
Hunt, born Jan. 22, 1878, married Iuka Woodall. Emma Lina Hunt, born July
21, 1884, married Frank Smith. Four children died as babies.



Virginia's mother, Clarice Elizabeth Hunt Morris born April 25, 1890 in
Melbourne, Izard, began keeping a diary when she was 12 years old. It was
written in pencil and some of the passages were difficult to read. Copying
and typing the diaries was a labor of love and we thank Mrs. Monan for
preserving them for future generations.

Virginia donated all the diaries and other family histories to the Museum
at Batesville, just before her death in 2006.
