Good afternoon!  Where is everybody today?
 
Do you have a COMER family in your tree -- particularly those in Independence County, Arkansas 1880 census.
 
Nancy Evelyn COMER, b. 22 October 1870, AR; d. 02 October 1955, Los Angeles County, CA, as Nancy Evelyn HACKETT; Mother's maiden name:  HERIOT / HERRIOT.  I have two possible families -- both with Nancy E., b. 1871.
 
My great-uncle, Thomas "Jackson" PERRY, b. November 1862, Izard County, AR, to Oliver Hazzard PERRY and wife Mary Jane BATY of Advance (later Matney Township, Baxter County, AR) married abt. 1891 Nancy Evelyn COMER.  They lived in AR --> OK (2 ch. born 1892 & 1894) --> AR (2 ch. born 1896 & 1898) --> WA, 1900C Artondale, Pierce County (fourth / last child born).  His occupation in 1900C was Bookkeeper "No capital last year."  In 1930 Los Angeles County, CA, his occupation was cement contractor.  "Uncle Jackson" died about 1930 of smallpox and his body cremated (required, according to my mother).
 
It appears that Nancy Evelyn remarried [unknown] HACKETT in California.  My mother called her "Nanny."  I have pictures of "Uncle Jackson" PERRY and his family.  He was a handsome man with dark curly hair.  Nancy was an elegant looking lady, with dark hair.  One picture of the family appears to be studio portrait.
 
I wonder about the significance of the site in California where the family is pictured in some sort of "trench."  Nancy is wearing a large hat.  Seems my mother said connected with war (WWI training site ?) -- maybe historical (not recently dug the way they're dressed).  Perhaps someone familiar with California would know.  Anyway, they are all standing in the "trench" and looking over its edge.
 
Had tried numerous times through the years to find COMER families in Arkansas -- they were indexed as CORNER -- now indexed by both names.
