Hello, Willis! So glad to see you online. I've been wondering how you're doing these days.
You may remember that my PERRY great-grandparents: Oliver Hazzard PERRY and Mary Jane {BATY} PERRY lived at Advance near Lone Rock in Matney Township, Izard County -- later Baxter County. They were parents of "Kate" Catherine PERRY who married Theodore Henry FINLEY.
Family lore is that the widowed Mary Jane had gold and other things valuable to her in a trunk. Bushwhackers came through and plundered her house, then took the trunk to the well house at the spring, where they left the trunk -- without its contents.
I have two books on adjacent Searcy County -- with stories about the WBTS / Civil War and Bushwhackers. Willis, my sister Clea and niece Dianne live about twenty miles from Tyler (toward Overton) by a small lake (not Tyler Lake). In September, I'm going to Oklahoma for about a week -- but later will be visiting them -- and if you're able, I'd like to visit with you. I could bring all my PERRY books, pictures, etc. and share with you. Let me know if we might get together. I have relatives on my father's RIDGWAY side at Lake Livingston and would like to include a visit there on this trip. Clea will be 90 next January but still travels some. It would be lovely to meet you and your wife.
Had computer woes and wasn't online for some time, extending to this June -- but now I'm all fired up again. Hope you're doing well. So glad to see a message from you.
Peggy
