First of all, Beth, it was me that said I received e-mail from ancestry.com, saying they would be contacting me with information on how I can receive the next FTM version *** FREE *** because I had purchased the 2008 FTM. They must know they have a "lemon" on their hands. "Duh."
Will be interested in seeing information on the DARK family. My niece, Vera "June" {LUNDY} PATTON began elementary school in Bixby, Oklahoma. Barbara BREAMER (sp. - could be BREMER), whose mother was from the DARK family that lived near us Southwest of Broken Arrow, was her classmate there until June's family moved away -- but they always stayed in touch -- and were roomates at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater during their college years. They have remained in touch -- my niece comes from Tempe / Phoenix, Arizona to Oklahoma, and usually statys with Barbara at their cabon. Perhaps I can e-mail June and ask if Barbara has information on her DARK family.
When I was a small child, my sister Billie June would take me to school with her. B. L. DARK wanted me to sit with him -- was "my boyfriend." B. L. DARK was about same age as my sister (Billie June, b. 1925). His brother Thomas "Tommy" DARK was about same age as my sister Helen (b. 1931). An older sister Virginia was an important person and long-time employee at Arkansas Valley State Bank in Broken Arrow. Their family lived less than a mile from us, on what is now South 129th East Avenue. The road only went three-quarters of the way through. Lots of Indian neighbors -- HANEY / BEAVER / BURGESS / LOVETT / SPYBUCK / FLIPPIN and my mother's friends: Soda McINTOSH, Lizzie CHENEWEE. Someone connected to the DARKs lived a few miles away on our school bus route, as Evelyn DARK, a bit younger than me (and her younger sister) who boarded our bus on its way to school at Broken Arrow.
My classmate, Patricia "Pat" {BACHMAN} MAXEY - GRAF, contacted me a few years ago as she was working on genealogy with a young man, who descended from our DARK neighbors. There was a large two-story house at East 111th Street & South Garnett Road, where two (unmarried ?) DARK sisters lived -- and believe they were sisters of Barbara BREMER's mother.
Note: B. L., Tommy, and Evelyn DARK all had dark hair and eyes, and dark complexions.
They would be in the 1930 cenus -- Boles or Fry Township of Boles. I've never looked for them in census records.
Dear Bernie -- as everyone else -- looking forward to seeing your sweet smile again on our List!
LOL
Peggy
