Vera, Please, might i have a copy of the 1957 article about the old
Philadelphia Church?
Joyce, your memories about the endless summer days brings back a lot of
memories...when the hot sidewalks would ring with the whirling of our roller
skates and cold RC Cola from a glass bottle...trading funny books with the
neighborhood kids and sending for the "special offers" from the Lone Ranger
and other radio broadcast...summer was the best of life! We moved from the
farm when my Dad, Homer Sharp, died. I was 6 and youngest of 7 at the time.
The days on the farm have very special memories for us...but city life was a
whole new ballgame and we tried to fit to that new way...but it would never
be like the days in the alfalfa, wading in the irrigation ditch, swimming in
the pond, catching tadpoles, or hunting lightening bugs in the cool evening
and putting them in fruit jars. Gathering on the front porch and singing
into the night, sleeping in the screened in porch in the back...and hearing
the coyoto's howl as we feel asleep...
Guess both enviornments helped to form my life, but the farm was the best.
Tootie
